This year’s NBA All-Star game followed the trend of recent years games in the fact that an actual draft was held to pick teams. One team was captained by LeBron James, and the other one by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The ten players starting the game were voted in by a mix of fan voting, media voting, and player voting. The reserves were picked by the NBA coaches in each respective conference. Typically, NBA All Star games are high scoring affairs with very little defense, and we expect much of the same this year in 2019.
The draft was even televised this year on the same day as the trade deadline.
